Electricity consumption in the week 14 in the Southeast Europe region increased by 2% as a result of the cold wave. Consumption increased in almost all markets in the region, except for Hungary, Turkey and Italy.
Croatia and Greece recorded the highest consumption growth, by 5% in both countries. Bulgaria follows, with an increase in consumption of 4%, under the influence of falling average temperatures.
Net electricity imports rose by 14% on average in the SEE region in the week 14, to 1.36 TWh, due to lower renewable generation and higher consumption.
Croatia moved from the position of net exporter of electricity to the position of net importer, with an import of 194 MWh.
Greece and Hungary recorded a drop in net imports by 33% and 7%, respectively. Serbia maintained its export position in the week 14, recording a drop in net exports by 17% compared to the previous week, to 128 GWh. Bulgaria’s electricity export was almost halved and amounted to 46.6 GWh.
