According to Kosovo’s economy ministry, market coupling of the Kosovo and Albanian bidding zones in the Alpex electricity exchange is now clear of any regulatory impediment. The platform is ready for inter-zone exchanges.
Members of Alpex will now be able to trade energy in both countries at day-ahead and intraday auctions, the Economy Minister said in a press release.
The market coupling aligns with Kosovo’s and Albania’s energy reforms, aiming to establish a liberalized electricity market and boost competitiveness, Rizvanolli added.
Alpex, founded by transmission system operators OST and KOSTT in October 2020, has a total of 23 members in the bidding zones of Albania and Kosovo.
