Romanian electricity producer Nuclearelectrica, the operator of the country’s sole nuclear power plant Cernavoda, recorded a net profit in the amount of 129 million euros in the first nine months of 2021, which is by 34.1 % higher compared to the same period last year.
The company’s operating profit rose by 23.8 % year-on-year to 236.5 million euros, while its operating revenues rose by 23 % to 440.5 million euros, mostly due to higher average price of sold electricity, which rose by 19.8 % in the January- September 2021 period.
Nuclearelectrica produced 7.571 million MWh of electricity in this period, which is 1.5 % less compared to 2020. However, electricity sales contributed with 427 million euros in revenues, which is 22.1 % higher than a year before. So far in 2021, Nuclearelectrica has invested 56.2 % of its 87.7 million euros annual investment budget.
Nuclearelectrica recorded a net profit in the amount of 140 million euros, which is by 27.8 % more than in 2019. The company’s operating profit increased by 21.8 % to 157.2 million euros, while its operating expenses were 3.5 % lower at 242 million euros.
Nuclearelectrica produced a total of 10,558 GWh of electricity in 2020, which is a 2 % increase year -on-year. Revenues from electricity sales increased by 2.8 % compared to the previous year, reaching 513 million euros.
