A Romanian consortium comprising Elsaco and Energomontaj has been awarded the contract by the Municipality of Ramnicu Valcea to construct a 145 MW gas-fired cogeneration power plant at the CET Govora site. The project, valued at approximately 100 million euros, is funded by the European Union.
The new facility will be integrated with the national gas transmission network via a new connection developed by Transgaz and linked to the electricity grid through Transelectrica’s Govora substation. The project is expected to be completed within 25 months, with a firm completion deadline of 31 December 2026, along with a 24-month warranty period.
In addition to the main contract, a secondary agreement worth 14 million euros has been signed for the development of a smaller biomass power plant at the same location. This plant will have a thermal capacity of 5 MW and an electricity output of 1.8 MW.
