Strabag Romania has reached a key stage in the development of the Deleni wind farm in Vaslui County, part of the larger Prowind North Cluster commissioned by PPC Renewables Romania. The project has now entered the turbine installation phase, with 23 GE Vernova units, each with a capacity of 6.1 MW, being assembled on site.

When completed, the wind farm will have a total installed capacity of 140 MW, making it the largest renewable energy facility in the Moldova region and one of the most significant projects of its kind in Romania. Scheduled to become operational by the end of 2025, it is expected to generate about 370 GWh of electricity annually, supplying around 62,000 households and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 215,000 tons per year.

Construction began in March and involved extensive civil, electrical, and infrastructure works to prepare the site for this stage. Strabag teams completed the foundations for all 23 turbines, using more than 2,300 tons of reinforcing steel and 28,000 cubic meters of concrete. In parallel, over 36 kilometers of access roads were built, along with nearly 386,500 square meters of crushed stone platforms and access routes to ensure full site accessibility.

The turbine installation marks the most visible and advanced phase of construction so far, representing an important milestone in boosting Romania’s renewable energy capacity and supporting the country’s decarbonization targets.
