As a result of a partnership between E.ON Energie, a Romanian subsidiary of German energy company E.ON and local tissue paper producer Don Pedro in Valcea county, signed last year, E.ON Romania will build a solar power plant for the tissue factory. The project is worth 630,000 euros.
The rooftop-based solar power plant will allow Don Pedro to provide by own means a large part of the electricity needed to obtain paper-based sanitary products. CEO of E.ON Energie Catalin Iordache said that the partnership between E.ON and Don Pedro shows first and foremost the commitment of both companies to a cleaner environment. By choosing E.ON Photovoltaic, Don Pedro will reduce CO2 emissions by over 240 tons per year and will also benefit from an independent and more affordable energy supply.
The new plant will include solar systems that will be mounted on the roofs of the 10 buildings of Don Pedro’s production units in Valcea county and will produce a total of 767 MWh of electricity per year, representing between 25 and 30 % of the company’s total electricity needs. The assembly of solar system already started in early July.
