Romanian oil and gas company OMV Petrom, the operator of Petrobrazi refinery, said that several installations within the complex were needed to be shut down and restarted following the voltage variations in the network in the afternoon of 2 January.
The statement from the company said that, on Sunday, around 15:00, a voltage variation in the refinery caused several installations to be shut down. These have been restarted and are in the process of adjusting the parameters. During the shutdown, certain quantity of gas was flared, but the environmental officials said that there was no danger of pollution in the area.
Petrobrazi refinery has the processing capacity of 4.5 billion tons per year. It also includes an 860 MW gas-fired power plant.
