Rompetrol Rafinare, a subsidiary of KMG International (KMGI), announced that its IT- related operations have been restored following a complex cyber attack which occurred on 7 March.
The company said that the Fill & Go service both for fleets and for individuals is functional in Romania, respectively card and ring power supply. The operational activity of the Petromidia and Vega refineries has not been affected by this cyber attack, and the planned technological overhaul will still take place between 11 March and 3 April.
Throughout this period, the company will continue to honor its contractual obligations, product deliveries to customers being provided from own stocks or with the support of the trading division of the KMG International Group. The company is optimistic that it will successfully implement all measures to restore digital systems, with it already having a complex cyber security solution installed at the server level. It has also taken additional measures to secure the recovered data.
During this process, Rompetrol provided the responsible authorities with the necessary and useful information to help prevent such situations at the local level, given the growing number of cyber threats, amid intense digitalization in recent years.
