Rezolv Energy has secured up to 331 million euros in additional financing to fund the second phase of its Vifor wind farm project in Romania, allowing the site to reach its full capacity of 461 MW. The initial phase of 192 MW, consisting of 30 turbines each with a capacity of 6.4 MW, is currently under construction and is expected to be operational by spring 2026. The newly financed second phase will add 269 MW through 42 additional turbines, with commissioning planned for the last quarter of 2027.

Situated in Buzau county, the Vifor wind farm is set to become one of the largest onshore wind projects in Europe once fully completed. The financing consortium includes Erste Group and UniCredit Group, who supported the first phase, as well as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Intesa Sanpaolo Group, OTP Bank, and Raiffeisenlandesbank. Rezolv Energy’s CEO, Alastair Hammond, emphasized that securing funding from this trusted group of international lenders ensures a smooth progression into the second phase.

Rezolv Energy currently manages a portfolio of 2.3 GW of wind and solar projects across southeastern Europe, including Romania’s 1,044 MW Dama solar power plant and Bulgaria’s 225 MW St. George solar power plant.

In addition, the EBRD confirmed a 44 million euro loan as part of the financing package, highlighting that Vifor’s expansion is the first project to benefit from Romania’s new contract-for-difference (CfD) scheme introduced in December 2024. The project was awarded a 240 MW CfD contract, illustrating the scheme’s goal to unlock 5 GW of renewable capacity, with 1.5 GW allocated in the first auction.
