Retele Electrice Romania has launched a public procurement process for network upgrade works in Dobrogea, with the tender valued at up to 13.2 million euros, excluding VAT. The project aims to expand distribution capacity, ensuring the necessary technical conditions to connect new consumers and integrate decentralized electricity generation.

The tender includes a wide range of low- and medium-voltage works. Planned upgrades involve replacing and installing conductors for both overhead and underground lines, converting single-phase lines to three-phase in the low-voltage network, and installing new poles. Additional work includes modernizing transformer substations by replacing overhead units with concrete-envelope stations, installing new switchboards and distribution boxes, and upgrading metering and protection systems. The project also covers enhancing electrical transformers and replacing and installing single-phase and three-phase measuring and protection blocks. These measures are expected to increase network resilience, improve service quality, and support growing electricity demand along with the integration of renewable energy sources.

The contract is scheduled to last 36 months from the signing of the framework agreement.
