Romania: OPCOM day-ahead electricity prices fall year-on-year but rise monthly in July 2025

In July 2025, the average electricity price on the day-ahead market of the Romanian energy exchange OPCOM was 103.5 euros/MWh. This represents a 28.69% decrease compared to July 2024, but a 20.16% increase compared to June 2025, when the average baseload price was 86.13 euros/MWh.

The traded volume on the day-ahead market in July reached 1.3 million MWh, which is 24.71% lower than in July 2024 but 12.38% higher than in June 2025. The average traded volume per hour in July 2025 was 1,751.3 MWh/h. The total transaction value for the month amounted to 135.4 million euros, down 53.56% from 291.5 million euros in July 2024, yet 28.3% higher than June 2025’s 105.5 million euros.

The share of the day-ahead market in forecasted net consumption in July 2024 was 30.18%.

On the intraday market, a total of 190,755.2 MWh was traded in July, marking a 24.67% increase compared to July 2024 but a 4.61% decrease from June 2025. The average intraday price was 99.83 euros/MWh, which is 28.57% lower than in July 2024 but 30.87% higher than in June 2025.

Bilateral contracts with delivery in July amounted to a total traded volume of 1.110 million MWh at an average price of 104.21 euros/MWh.
