Nuclearelectrica, the operator of the nuclear power plant Cernavoda, recorded a net profit of 259 million euros in the first half of 2023. That is around 6% higher compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, operating profit (EBITDA) decreased by 5% compared to the same period of 2022, due the increase in the cost of the contribution to the Energy Transition Fund in the first six months of this year, which was 150% higher than the extra profit tax in the same period of 2022.
Operating revenues increased by 20%, supported by the 20% increase in electricity sales revenues. This increase is due to the 22% increase in the weighted average price in the first six of electricity was sold.
The amount of electricity sold on the competitive market of bilateral contracts decreased by 49%, accounting for 43% of the total sold electricity, and the average sale price on this market increased by 109%.
The amount of electricity sold on the spot market in the first half of 2023 decreased by 16%, accounting for 14% of the total sold electricity, and the average sale price on this market decreased by 49%.
