The largest electricity producer in the country Hidroelectrica, tested the market with three smaller peak load packages for the delivery in 2022. On 6 April, the company offered three packages of 5 MW per hour on the market for bilateral contracts. with delivery during 2022 in the interval from 06:00 to 22:00, at a price of 68.1 euros/MWh, totaling 62,400 MWh.

Even at such high price, the offers attracted the interest of large suppliers, and all quantities were bought by Electrica Furnizare. It is interesting that for one of the packages, Electrica offered as much as 70.1 euros/MWh, 2 euros above the requested price. All quantities were at a price ranging between 68.5 and 69.5 euros/MWh.

A day later, on 7 April, Nuclearelectrica, the operator of nuclear power plant Cernavoda, offered for sale a larger amount of base energy – three packages with delivery from 1 July 2021 to 31 December 2022 and three more packages with delivery in the second half of this year (1 July – 31 December 2021), each with a capacity of 10 MW per hour.

The first three packages, i.e. a total of 395,000 MWh, were offered at a price of 59 euros/MWh. Electricity was sold at higher prices than requested (buyers were OMV Petrom and Engie), at prices ranging from 59.5 to 60.4 euros/MWh. The remaining three packages, a total of 132,500 MWh of electricity, were offered at a price of 59.7 euros/MWh. Higher prices were achieved again – ranging from 61.6 to 62.2 euros/MWh. The quantities were baought by Engie and Enel.
