An agreement on the acquisition of the shares held by German STEAG in its Romanian subsidiaries – STEAG Energie Romania and Crucea Wind Farm was signed by Romanian electricity producer Hidroelectrica.
The latter company operates the 108 MW Crucea wind farm, commissioned in 2014. The acquisition is part of the company’s strategy to diversify its portfolio by acquiring other renewable energy production capacities.
Earlier this year, Hidroelectrica, electricity distributor and supplier Electrica and State Energy Management Company (SAPE) placed a joint bid for the purchase of Romanian assets of Czech energy company CEZ. Hidroelectrica is reportedly interested in CEZ’ wind farms, while Electrica is interested in the company’s electricity distribution business. However, CEZ accepted the offer submitted by the Australian group Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA).
