Austrian renewable energy company Enery has successfully commissioned a 51.4 MW solar power plant, complete with an adjacent battery energy storage system (BESS), in northwest Romania. The Sarmasag solar power plant is expected to generate 64.8 GWh of electricity annually, which is sufficient to power over 38,000 households and reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 16,200 tons. This project marks Enery’s first foray into battery energy storage, featuring a capacity of 22 MWh.

The solar farm has secured a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Asahi Europe & International (AEI) to supply electricity to its Ursus Breweries. Contractors for the project included SUNOTEC and Huawei Digital Power, while UniCredit Bank Romania provided financing support.
