Electricity production in Romania in the first two months of 2024 reached 10.44 TWh, 2.8 % less compared to the same period in 2023, according to the data published by the National Institute for Statistics.
Production in thermal power plants decreased by 2.9% to 3.7 TWh. Production in hydropower plants decreased by 0.4 % to 2.96 TWh, while electricity production in nuclear power plant Cernavoda increased by 0.8 % to 1.98 TWh.
Wind energy production dropped by 15.2%, reaching 1.55 TWh and solar energy production reached 245.6 GWh (+47.2%).
Electricity consumption in Romania in January and February amounted to 8.62 TWh, 1.7% more compared to 2023. In the same period, industrial electricity consumption increased by 3%, to 6.52 TWh, while household consumption decreased by 2.6%, to 2.01 TWh.
