Spanish independent power producer Elawan Energy has signed 15-year contracts for difference (CfD) with the Romanian Government for two wind projects totaling 92 MW in capacity. The agreements were secured through Romania’s latest renewable energy auction.
Both wind farms have reached the ready-to-build stage, with commissioning scheduled for 2028. The CfD mechanism guarantees stable revenues, minimizing exposure to market fluctuations and providing the financial stability required to begin construction.
Elawan described the contracts as an important milestone in expanding its presence in Eastern Europe, a region the company views as highly promising for renewable energy growth. Operating in 15 countries, Elawan Energy oversees a diversified portfolio of 267 renewable projects, including 2.1 GW of installed capacity, 830 MW under construction, and a development pipeline exceeding 11.7 GW.
