Portuguese company CJR Renewables has completed construction of the Urleasca wind farm in Braila County, Romania, with an installed capacity of 102 MW. The project was developed under a Balance of Plant contract signed in May 2024 and initiated by BIG MEGA Renewable Energy, a joint venture between Israeli firms BIG Shopping Centers and MEGA OR Holdings.
The wind farm comprises 17 turbines, each with a capacity of 6 MW, supplied by Chinese manufacturer Goldwind. Once fully operational, it is expected to generate approximately 277 GWh of renewable electricity per year, reducing around 115,000 tons of COâ‚‚ emissions annually.
CJR Renewables, known for its expertise in turnkey civil and electrical construction, installation, and commissioning, continues to strengthen its presence in Romania’s renewable energy sector. In addition to the Braila wind project, the company contributed to the construction of a 71 MW solar power plant in Satu Mare, which began operations in August 2024. That facility is owned by Israeli independent power producer Shikun & Binui Energy.
The completion of the Urleasca wind farm marks another step forward in Romania’s renewable energy expansion and underscores CJR Renewables’ growing influence in delivering large-scale wind and solar projects across the region.
