Romanian artificial fertilizer producer Azomures and the largest natural gas consumer in the country currently operates at half production capacity due to high gas prices.
The global shortage of natural gas is also felt on the Romanian Commodity Exchange (BRM), where the price of gas contracts with delivery in November and the first half of next year increased to 80 euros/MWh, a record level for the domestic market.
At the European level, companies producing chemical fertilizers from countries such as Germany, Norway, France, Belgium, Italy, Croatia, Lithuania have also decided to reduce production by up to 50 % due to the high price of gas.
