Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Djedovic, announced that construction of the Serbia-Hungary oil pipeline is expected to start by the end of this year. Following a meeting with Acting General Director of Transnafta, Natasa Lecic, the progress of the project was discussed.
It was revealed that both the preliminary and conceptual designs, along with a feasibility study, have already been completed. Additionally, the Spatial Plan for the Special Purpose Area has been reviewed publicly and is now in the final stages of approval. Officials anticipate that the building permit will be issued by the end of the year, with project and technical documentation set to be finalized shortly thereafter. The full project is expected to be completed by 2027.
Minister Djedovic emphasized the importance of the pipeline in strengthening Serbia’s energy security and ensuring a stable domestic oil supply. She highlighted that diversifying supply sources is crucial for Serbia’s overall energy security, including both gas and oil. The Serbia-Hungary oil pipeline will be central to maintaining long-term supply stability. Regular communication between expert teams from both countries continues, ensuring coordination and monitoring of developments on each section of the project.
