Preparations are progressing for the construction of the Serbia–Hungary oil pipeline, with authorities working to secure the necessary location conditions. The upcoming stages will involve drafting the main design required for obtaining a construction permit and conducting an environmental impact assessment. These measures aim to accelerate the start of construction, according to Serbia’s Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Djedovic.

Minister Djedovic noted that several key foundational documents have already been finalized, including the adoption of the Special Purpose Spatial Plan, the development of the conceptual design, as well as drafts of the preliminary project and feasibility study.

She recently met with officials from Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, representatives from the oil and gas company MOL, Serbian oil company NIS, and Transnafta to discuss the practical implementation of the pipeline project. Minister Djedovic emphasized the strategic importance of the pipeline for both countries, highlighting that the infrastructure will allow Serbia to receive crude oil through Hungary. This project is expected to enhance Serbia’s overall energy security and diversify its oil supply routes.
