According to Russian media, Bulgaria’s natural gas imports from Russian gas company Gazprom amounted to 279 million cubic meters in January, which is a 20.75 % increase compared to the same month last year.
This included Bulgaria in the top three European countries that posted the largest increases in pipeline gas imports from Russia in the first month of 2022. The other two were Latvia which increased imports by 20.58 % to 22 million cubic meters and Bosnia and Herzegovina, where Russian gas import rose by 13 % to 39.5 million cubic meters in January 2022.
Moldova imported 1.4 % more gas (398 million cubic meters), while North Macedonia’s gas imports rose by 5 % to 7.8 million cubic meters.
On the other hand, Serbia recorded reduced imports of Russian gas in January, which dropped by 8.5 % to 234.6 million cubic meters.
