North Macedonia’s energy consumption and production overview in August

In August 2024, North Macedonia’s total electricity consumption reached 414,178 MWh, with natural gas consumption at 33.04 million cubic meters, coal consumption at 320,639 tons, and petroleum products at 101,862 tons. According to the State Statistical Office, domestic production met 100% of electricity needs during the month, with 99.9% of coal used for electricity generation.

Total net electricity production in August was 442,985 MWh, representing a 2.7% decrease compared to the same month in 2023. Thermal power plants generated 148,028 MWh (33.4%), down 19.4% from the previous year. Hydropower plants contributed 110,144 MWh (24.9%), an increase of 4.2%, while combined heat and power plants (CHPPs) produced 143,108 MWh (32.3%), a slight decrease of 0.7%. The Bogdanci wind farm generated 11,902 MWh (2.69%), biogas power plants produced 4,705 MWh, and solar power plants contributed 25,097 MWh, accounting for 5.66% of the total electricity produced in August.
