Macedonian energy regulator issued licences for the production of electricity from renewable energy sources with a total installed capacity of nearly 399 MW in 2023, up by 160% compared to a year before.
The renewable energy sources with a total installed capacity of 551.2 MW added in 2022 and 2023 can supply electricity to 175,500 households, the Energy and Water Services Regulatory Commission said in a press release.
“The summarized data from ERC indicates that the energy transition in 2023 was happening daily. Each working day, we witness the addition of new 1.5 MW to the electric power system in our country contributing to the local production of electricity,” Marko Bislimovski, president of ERC, said.
Macedonia’s gross electricity production increased by an annual 11.5% in November, 2023 to 550,205 MWh.
