ESM Prodaja has announced a public call for bids from licensed domestic and foreign companies that should deliver the required amount of natural gas for March 2023 for the production of thermal energy in four heating plants in Skopje, as well as for other natural gas consumers in North Macedonia. which are supplied through ESM Prodaja, the state company announced.
The tender was opened on February 21 and will last until February 24, and bidders should submit data on the technical characteristics of the gas, country of origin, guarantees, fixed price per MWh, data on the total offered quantity at the point of delivery (the main measuring station Židilovo in Macedonia), it is stated in the press release of ESM Prodaja.
The necessary quantities of gas for the needs of heating plants and other consumers in January and February were purchased by ESM Prodaja from the Bulgarian company Balkan Utilities at a price of 115.97 euros per MWh (for January) or 98.71 euros per MWh (for delivery in February).
The gas purchased from this company in January cost the Macedonian state more than one million euros. According to estimates, the costs of ESM could have been lower if the gas had been purchased at stock market prices.
Currently, the price of gas on the reference European exchange TTF for delivery in March 2023 is 49.3 euros per MWh.
