North Macedonia: Electricity trading day-ahead market rises 25% year-on-year in May 2025

In May 2025, the volume of electricity traded on North Macedonia’s day-ahead electricity exchange reached 86,321.1 MWh, which is approximately 25 percent higher than the 69,054 MWh recorded in the same month the previous year.

However, the traded volume in May was 21.7 percent lower compared to the previous month. The electricity market operator MEMO reported that the average market-clearing price for May 2025 was 84.22 euros per MWh, 4.5 percent lower than the previous month. The daily average trading volume was 2,785 MWh. The North Macedonian electricity exchange was established in May 2023.
