Total net production of electricity in North Macedonia in January 2024 reached 563,425 MWh, which is 20% lower compared to the same month last year, according to the data from the State Statistical Office.
203,314 MWh or 36% was produced at thermal power plants (- 47% compared to January 2023), 155,392 MWh or 28% was produced at hydropower plants (- 16%), 162,582 MWh or 29% in CHP plants (+ 52.%) and 22,983 MWh or 4% was produced by Bogdanci wind farm. Production at biogas power plants amounted to 4,866 MWh, while solar power plants produced 14,288 MWh of electricity in January.
Electricity consumption in Macedonia in January amounted to 777,650 MWh, natural gas consumption amounted to 44.24 million cubic meters, coal consumption reached 397,123 tons, while the consumption of petroleum products stood at 80,929 tons.
In January, 76.4 % of the consumed electricity was covered by domestic production, while 99.4% of the total coal consumption was used for electricity production.
