North Macedonia: DUI accuses Government of 50% electricity price hike, urges immediate action

The Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) has accused the North Macedonian Government of increasing electricity prices for over 65,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises by more than 50%, from 8.78 den/kWh to 13.37 den/kWh. DUI claims this price hike will adversely impact citizens’ budgets by raising the cost of goods and services and harming company liquidity.

The party argues that, in the absence of wage increases for public sector employees and adjustments to the minimum wage, this electricity price increase will further deteriorate living standards. DUI has called for immediate measures to reduce electricity costs and food prices, highlighting the importance of supporting micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, which constitute 98% of the country’s active companies.
