North Macedonia: Day-ahead electricity exchange hits record trading volume in July 2025

In July 2025, the volume of electricity traded on North Macedonia’s day-ahead electricity exchange reached 135,072.8 MWh, marking a 36.6% increase compared to 98,842.2 MWh recorded in the same month the previous year. Compared to June 2025, traded volume rose by 42.7%.

This represents the highest monthly traded volume ever recorded, surpassing the previous record of 130,168 MWh set in January 2025. The electricity market operator MEMO reported that the average market-clearing price for July 2025 was 103.19 euros/MWh, which is 22.2% higher than in the previous month. The daily average trading volume for July stood at 4,357.2 MWh.

North Macedonia’s electricity exchange was established in May 2023.
