A new wind power project on the Sinjajevina plateau has received official approval, spearheaded by local company N1. The project envisions the construction of 44 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.6 MW, for a total installed capacity of 290.4 MW. Annual electricity generation is estimated at 944 GWh.
The Environmental Protection Agency has approved the project’s environmental impact assessment, confirming it was conducted in line with national legislation. The decision includes mandatory measures to prevent or mitigate environmental damage, which the investor must follow during construction, operation, and in case of incidents. A monitoring program will also be implemented to track environmental effects.
The Sinjajevina II wind farm will be located across land parcels in the municipalities of Kolašin and Šavnik. The government previously issued urban planning and technical requirements for the project, which involves a consortium of N1, Sistem-MNE, and PerMonte. Earlier in 2024, the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property launched a tender for a 30-year lease of over 2 million square meters of land. The initial annual lease price was set at €569,500, and the consortium was the sole bidder, securing the lease agreement.
The process began with a formal request for an environmental impact study at the start of 2025, leading to the assessment and the approval now granted.
