The construction of the Korita solar power plant near Bijelo Polje has taken a significant step forward after EE Korita, the project investor, received approval for its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study from the Environmental Protection Agency. This marks a key milestone for the €200 million investment. The plant will be located in the Korita area, close to the border with Serbia, and will cover an area of approximately 505 hectares. The project plans to install solar panels with a total capacity of 280 MW.
To integrate the solar power plant into the existing 400 kV transmission network, a 35/400 kV transformer station will be built on-site, connecting to the 400 kV infrastructure through a 400 kV transmission line. The transformer station will have a capacity of 300 MW, with the plant expected to produce 331 GWh of electricity annually.
In early 2024, EE Korita signed an agreement with Montenegrin electricity transmission system operator CGES for the construction of the infrastructure needed to connect the solar power plant to the transmission network. The agreement covers the planning, construction, and integration of the plant, which will have an initial capacity of 240 MW. The parent company, Danish European Energy, brings extensive expertise in developing solar and wind power plants to the project.
