Montenegrin state-owned power utility EPCG announced that on 13 June, its Serbian subsidiary made its first transaction on the local energy exchange SEEPEX, which will enable the company to sell surplus electricity.
The statement from the company said that entering SEEPEX will also help to optimize electricity generation, especially that of hydropower plant Piva. In this way, EPCG is gradually getting involved in trading in foreign markets. The next step should be becoming a member of the energy exchange in the EU, instead of trading through a partner.
Serbian subsidiary of EPCG became a member of SEEPEX in mid-May.
