In the week of March 3, solar photovoltaic energy production saw significant increases in the German, French, and Italian markets compared to the previous week. The German market recorded the largest rise, with an increase of 127%, followed by Italy at 65%. France saw a smaller increase of 23%, maintaining a steady upward trend for the third consecutive week. In contrast, the Iberian markets experienced declines, with solar energy production dropping by 16% in Spain and 23% in Portugal. This marked the second consecutive week of decreased solar production in Spain.

During the first week of March, all three markets—Italy, France, and Germany—set new records for solar photovoltaic energy production in March. On March 4, Italy generated 109 GWh of solar energy, followed by France with 113 GWh on March 5. Germany also achieved new records every day of the week, reaching its highest solar generation for any March on March 6, with 273 GWh.

Looking ahead to the second week of March, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting predicts an increase in solar energy production in Spain, while solar production in Germany and Italy is expected to decline.

In wind energy production, the first week of March saw an increase across the German and Iberian markets. Spain led the way with a 32% rise, marking its fourth consecutive week of growth, while Germany experienced a modest 7.3% increase. Portugal also saw an increase, up by 26% for the second week in a row. However, wind energy production declined in Italy and France, falling by 13% and 23%, respectively.

For the week of March 10, AleaSoft’s wind energy forecasts suggest a decline in wind energy production across Spain, Portugal, Germany, and France, while Italy is expected to see an increase, AleaSoft reports.
