Total electricity consumption in North Macedonia in January 2022 amounted to 829,783 MWh, natural gas consumption amounted to 31.42 million cubic meters, coal consumption reached 497,697 tons, while the consumption of petroleum products stood at 90,174 tons.
According to the data from State Statistical Office, 69.8 % of the consumed electricity in January was covered by domestic production, while 98.2 % of the total coal consumption was used for electricity production.
Total net production of electricity in Macedonia in January 2022 stood at 545,795 MWh, which is by 6.1 % higher compared to the same month last year. 267,785 MWh or 49.1 % was produced at thermal power plants (+ 62.9 % compared to January 2021), 150,989 MWh or 27.7 % was produced at hydropower plants (- 13.8 %), 104,763 MWh or 19.2 % in CHP plants (- 33.5 %) and 16,447 MWh or 3 % was produced by Bogdanci wind farm.
Production at biogas power plants reached 4,210 MWh, while solar power plants produced 1,601 MWh of electricity in January.
