The Hungarian Regulatory Office for Energy and Public Enterprises (MEKH) has extended the deadline for the implementation of power plant projects that should receive subsidies for the production of renewable energy.
The Hungarian regulator has already extended the implementation deadline several times for power plants that are guaranteed to take over the produced electricity and for producers that are eligible to receive subsidies in the form of premiums, first due to the pandemic, and then due to the war in Ukraine that disrupted supply chains.
In accordance with the MEKH decree, the new deadline for power plants that have the right to compulsory takeover of electricity according to the government decree from 2007 is June 30, 2023, in the case when the deadline expires in the period from July 1, 2021 to December 31 in 2021; while in case the deadline expires between January 1, 2022 and January 1, 2023, it will be extended until December 31, 2023.
The deadlines for the implementation of power plant projects that have the right to mandatory takeover or subsidies in the form of premiums without tenders in accordance with the government’s decision from 2017 will be extended until June 30, 2023, in case the deadline expires between July 1, 2021 and July 31, 2023. January 2022.
According to the MEKH regulation, the deadline for project implementation is automatically extended, that is, there is no need to submit an individual request.
