Greenhouse gas emissions in Hungary dropped by 7% in 2022, according to data published by the Hungarian Meteorological Service (OMSZ). The Energy Ministry said that emissions dropped by 18% in the industrial sector and by 12% in the farming sector. Waste management sector emissions fell by 1%, while transport emissions slightly increased.
Compared to 1990 levels, greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 37%. The Government targets a 40% drop in emissions from the 1990 base by 2030, but the Ministry is proposing to amend the target to 50%.
