GoldenPeaks Capital, a renewable energy investor operating in Central and Eastern Europe, has officially launched the Zemplen solar complex in northern Hungary. Located in Bodroghalom, the facility has a total capacity of 64.5 MW and has been running at full capacity since March.
The two-block solar plant is expected to generate around 94.6 GWh of electricity annually, enough to supply more than 30,000 residents. In addition to producing green energy, it is GoldenPeaks’ first Hungarian asset to participate in the country’s automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve market, providing key ancillary services to improve grid stability.
Electricity from the site is secured under a long-term power purchase agreement signed in 2024 with Danish packaging company Faerch Group. GoldenPeaks highlighted that, as Hungary’s PPA market grows, the project showcases how corporate partnerships can play an important role in helping local businesses move toward decarbonization.
