Futures prices on the Hungarian electricity derivatives exchange, HUDEX, have fallen drastically in the last month, as a result of relatively warm weather and a drop in consumption and gas prices.
Thus, the contract for the delivery of electricity in February 2023 on HUDEX has more than halved in the last four weeks, from 448.77 euros per MWh, as recorded on December 7, to 193.82 euros per MWh during the trading session on January 5. in 2023
When it comes to contracts for the year 2024, they also recorded a decline – in the same period, the price of electricity on HUDEX for delivery next year was reduced from 292.9 euros per MWh to 204.64 euros per MWh
The price of futures for the second quarter of this year has almost halved in the last four weeks – from 426.44 euros per MWh on December 7 to 218 euros per MWh, which was achieved on January 5.
The maximum futures price for the second quarter of 2023 reached around 1,000 euros per MWh on August 26, 2022.
