In January 2025, the average price of electricity on the Hungarian energy exchange HUPX’s day-ahead market (DAM) was 140.19 euros/MWh, representing a 3% decrease compared to the previous month when the average baseload price was 143.86 euros/MWh. The average peak price on the HUPX DAM stood at 158.29 euros/MWh, an 8% drop from December.
The total traded volume on the day-ahead market reached 2.64 million MWh, marking a 5% increase from December’s volume of 2.51 million MWh and a 12.3% rise compared to January 2024’s 2.35 million MWh. The average daily traded volume on this market was 85,191 MWh.
On the intraday market, the total traded volume amounted to 922,427 MWh, which is 9% higher than the previous month. The average daily traded volume on the intraday market was 29,756 MWh. Additionally, the average price for the hourly product on the intraday market was 139.29 euros/MWh, reflecting a 9% decrease compared to December.
