The number of Greek solar projects being connected to the national electricity network so far in 2022 has reached historical high, surpassing the levels in 2012 and 2013, when the country experienced its first renewables boom.
So far in 2022, a 1,340 MW in solar projects was connected to the network, which is about a quarter of the total of 5,446 MW in solar connections in the past decade.
A minimal number of solar connections were made in Greece between 2014 and 2018, but the sector began experiencing renewed growth in 2019.
Connections reached 161 MW in 2019, 459 MW in 2020 and 838 MW in 2021, and are at 1,340 MW so far this year.
