The number of low-voltage consumers who switched their electricity supplier has doubled in May, compared to the previous month, ahead of the energy crisis measures which are about to be implemented as of 1 July.
According to the latest figures in the retail electricity market, a further rise in the number of residential consumers resorting to the universal electricity supply service, which is supplying “black -listed” consumers who have been rejected by previous suppliers over payment failures.
The number of low-voltage consumers who have resorted to the universal electricity supply service exceeded a total of 170,000 at the end of May.
By law, the electricity market’s top five suppliers, based on market share, contribute to the universal supply service.
