Mytilineos group won a tender to perform the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works on a 490 MW solar projects in Western Macedonia.
The works cover eight solar power plants owned by Meton Energy, a joint venture between RWE Renewables and PPC Renewables. Mytilineos did not disclose the value of the awarded contract.
Solar projects have individual capacities ranging between 18 MW and 135 MW. They envisage the construction of solar power plants within a former lignite mine area.
Building activities have already been initiated and are expected to be completed at the end of next year.
The RWE-PPC joint venture is planning to build 2 GW of solar projects in Greece, of which PPC is responsible for nine projects with a total of 940 MW, while RWE will cover the rest.
