Helleniq Energy plans to construct a large-scale solar power plant in order to fully cover the electricity needs of its refinery in Thessaloniki. The solar power plant should be built in Thessaloniki’s area, facilitating its link with the refinery.
The company also intends to install standalone batteries for energy storage when the solar farm’s green energy is not instantly used by the refinery.
Helleniq Energy is also considering the use of hydrogen as a means of chemical storage of excess electricity generation.
