French renewable energy producer and developer Akuo has launched a crowdfunding campaign with an initial target of EUR 1 million, aiming to back the operation of a 4 MWp solar complex in Greece.
The funds will be raised via the recently established AkuoCoop by Lendosphere portal, which Akuo runs together with Paris-based Lendosphere. The initiative kicked off on Wednesday and is open to all European citizens. Interested investors will be able to participate with a minimum amount of EUR 100.
The project to benefit from the fundraising campaign is located in the Thessaly region of northern Greece, near the town of Larissa. The complex covers 8 ha of land and consists of four photovoltaic plants, namely Tsairia, Zappeio 1024, Zappeio 1008 and Foniades. All of them were commissioned last year and are expected to have a combined output of around 6.3 GWh of electricity per year, equal to the demand of about 570 households.
The PV complex was installed as part of a broader initiative that will see Akuo deploy 500 MW of PV capacity in Thessaly, supporting Greece’s goal of increasing the share of renewables in the national energy mix to over 80% by 2030.
