During the week of August 12, solar energy production fell across all major European electricity markets compared to the previous week. The largest reductions were seen in the French and Italian markets, with decreases of 19% and 13%, respectively. Other markets experienced declines ranging from 9.2% in Germany to 0.3% in Portugal.
Looking ahead to the week of August 19, forecasts from AleaSoft Energy Forecasting suggest a reversal of this trend, with increases in solar production expected in Germany and Spain. However, Italy is likely to continue experiencing a decline in solar output.
In terms of wind energy, there was an increase in production in the Iberian and French markets during the week of August 12. Specifically, wind production rose by 43% in Portugal, 15% in France, and 9.2% in Spain. Conversely, Germany and Italy saw decreases in wind generation, with reductions of 20% and 7.1%, respectively.
