During the week of July 7, solar photovoltaic (PV) energy production increased in the markets of France, Italy, and Spain compared to the previous week. The French market continued its upward trend for the second consecutive week, recording the most significant growth at 9.1%. Italy and Spain reversed their previous week’s declines, with production rising by 3.7% and 3.3%, respectively. In contrast, the German and Portuguese markets saw a downturn, with PV production falling by 22% and 13%, respectively.

Throughout the week, both the French and Italian markets set historic records for solar PV production. On July 10, the French market reached its highest-ever output with 173 GWh. Italy registered its record production of 161 GWh on July 9. Meanwhile, on July 7, Spain set a new all-time high for photovoltaic energy generation on a July day, producing 224 GWh.

Looking ahead to the week of July 14, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting predicts that solar PV production will increase in the German and Spanish markets but decrease in the Italian market.

Turning to wind energy, production rose during the second week of July in Italy and France. Italy experienced the largest increase with a 191% jump, reversing the previous week’s decline. France saw growth for the fourth consecutive week, rising by 2.2%. However, the Iberian market recorded the steepest drops, with wind energy production decreasing by 9.2% in Spain and 8.8% in Portugal. The German market also experienced a decline for the second consecutive week, falling by 6.0%.

For the week of July 14, wind energy forecasts from AleaSoft predict a mixed pattern of changes. Wind production is expected to increase in France and Portugal but decrease in Germany, Spain, and Italy compared to the previous week, AleaSoft reports.
