E.ON Energie Romania delivers 400th solar power plant, expands into long-term energy agreements

E.ON Energie Romania has reached a major milestone with the completion and delivery of its 400th turnkey solar power plant for partner companies, achieved in September. The total value of these projects exceeds 75 million euros.

The solar facilities, installed across multiple partner locations, cover more than 374,000 square meters and include approximately 187,000 panels. Together, they provide 84.3 MW of installed capacity and generate around 105 GWh of renewable electricity annually—enough to meet the yearly consumption of a large Romanian city. The systems also reduce carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 19,000 tons per year, equivalent to the footprint of nearly 10,000 petrol-powered vehicles.

Among the latest projects is a rooftop solar installation at the Cemacon brick factory in the Recea industrial park, Salaj county. The system, consisting of 2,176 monocrystalline modules, is expected to produce about 976 MWh of clean electricity annually. Another recent project was completed for Continental Automotive Romania in Timis county, where E.ON installed 1,440 panels with a combined capacity of 655 kW. This facility is projected to generate 715 MWh per year while cutting emissions by 152 tons of CO2.

E.ON Energie Romania is also expanding into long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs). Earlier this year, the company signed its first such agreement with Webasto’s plant in Arad. The one-million-euro project was financed, built, and operated by E.ON. Under the 15-year contract, Webasto will receive the plant’s full annual output of about 1,530 MWh at a fixed rate, indexed annually, ensuring predictable energy costs throughout the contract period.

Through these initiatives, E.ON aims to provide partner companies with reliable renewable energy solutions that enhance competitiveness, stabilize expenses, and accelerate the transition to sustainability.
