Croatian energy statistics for July: Production and import-export trends

According to the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, net electricity production in Croatia for July 2024 was 1,203 GWh, marking a 3.8% decrease from July 2023, when production totaled 1,250 GWh. In July, the breakdown of electricity production sources was as follows: hydropower plants generated 480 GWh (39.9%), thermal power plants produced 382 GWh (31.8%), wind farms contributed 191 GWh (15.9%), and solar power plants accounted for 83 GWh (6.9%).

During this period, Croatia saw a significant increase in electricity imports, totaling 1,525 GWh, which is 61% higher than the 947 GWh imported in July 2023. Electricity exports also rose to 816 GWh, up 67.6% from 487 GWh in the same month last year.

In terms of hydrocarbon production, Croatia produced 55 million cubic meters of natural gas in July 2024, reflecting an 11.3% decline compared to the previous year. Natural gas imports increased by 25% to 255 million cubic meters. Crude oil production stood at 43,000 tons, a 2.3% decrease from July 2023, while production of petroleum products slightly decreased to 322,000 tons from 324,000 tons in the same month last year.
