Energija Projekt, a Croatian company primarily owned by Chinese firm Norinco International Cooperation, has announced that its 156 MW Senj wind farm is now officially approved for permanent commercial operations. The company has secured a permanent market participation agreement with the Croatian Energy Market Operator (HROTE), marking a key milestone for the wind farm.

The Senj wind farm, one of the largest Chinese investments in Croatia and among the country’s most significant wind energy projects, began trial operations in December 2021. However, it only received its operational permit in July 2024 after overcoming challenges related to turbine noise levels that had delayed the permit process.

In addition to the operational approval, Energija Projekt is in the process of registering the Senj wind farm for guarantees of origin. This step aims to bolster the promotion of sustainable development in European industries by supporting the sale and supply of green energy.
