Croatia: JANAF pipeline capacity exceeds MOL Group’s refinery needs

The management of Croatian oil transportation company JANAF has announced the successful completion of extensive testing on a section of its oil pipeline. The tests, conducted in August in collaboration with MOL Group representatives, focused on the pipeline segment stretching from the Sisak terminal to the Hungarian border. The results have provided precise and reliable data on the pipeline’s real-world capacities.

The testing has confirmed that the pipeline’s annual capacity surpasses the combined processing capabilities of MOL Group’s refineries in Hungary and Slovakia. By incorporating DRA (drag-reducing agent) additives, the pipeline can achieve a capacity ranging from 13 to 16.4 million tons per year, depending on the number of operational pumps.

This confirmation validates JANAF’s ability to fully meet the supply requirements of MOL Group’s refineries. The Szazhalombatta refinery near Budapest, with an annual processing capacity of 8.1 million tons, and the Bratislava refinery, with a capacity of 6 million tons, are both well within the pipeline’s capabilities.

JANAF has been maintaining a steady transport contract with MOL Group for the past 12 years, underscoring a long-term and reliable partnership in the oil transportation sector.
